The Pony Highway
https://theponyhighway.neocities.org/

The Pony Highway greets you with a little bit of roleplay before you even see the navigation. You're a pony trudging through sand, your hooves hurt, and you stumble onto an asphalt road leading to a small town that's "clearly seen better days." It's such a fun way to set the mood, and it immediately told me this site was going to have personality.

Nano (they/them) is a pony collector and comp sci student who's built this site as a hub for all things My Little Pony, spanning every generation from G1 through G5. And when I say "all things," I mean it. There's a Commercial Archive dedicated to tracking down and preserving MLP commercials from around the world. English, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Slovak or Czech. The goal is to find every single pony commercial ever made, and they're actively asking for help filling in the gaps. That kind of archival obsession is exactly the sort of thing the old web was built for.

The Species Guide is another standout. It covers equine and non-equine species from across the MLP universe, from Earth Ponies and Pegasus Ponies to more obscure entries like Kelpies, Umbrum, Auroricorns, and something called Tang Bao. Several entries already have completed descriptions (marked with a star), and the rest have reference images. It's clearly a work in progress, but even in its current state it's an impressive reference.

What really got me clicking around, though, was the Cool Links page. This is one of the most thorough link directories I've seen on a personal site in a long time. Nano has organized it into categories like MLP reference sites, Neocities/Nekoweb pony sites, forums, YouTube channels, and then a massive section of older pony fan sites, some last updated in the early 2000s. There are sites about Argentinian My Little Ponies, Italian ponies, UK princess pony accessories, G1 stickers, and a blog called Heck Yeah Pony Scans. Each link has a brief note explaining what you'll find there. It's a genuine directory, the kind of thing that used to be everywhere online and now feels increasingly rare.

The fun stuff section has some nice surprises too. There's a personality quiz that Nano built from scratch, complete with custom art and animations. The questions are great. One asks you to pick a trinket from an old box (choices include "a rock that probably looks very cool when wet" and "a rather scruffy peacock feather"). Another asks which crime you'd rather commit, with options ranging from "attempted modern train robbery in full cowboy gear on horses" to "thoughtcrime." It's silly and specific and clearly took a lot of work.

There's also a characters page with Nano's original pony OCs, each with their own backstory. My favorite is Lancaster, a night club singer with a huge ego who secretly has stage fright. And Party Popper, who sells illegal fireworks but "considers herself somewhat responsible" and won't sell to ponies she doesn't trust.

The graphics page offers free buttons, blinkies, stamps, and transparent PNGs of ponies from G1 and G2. There's a guestbook. There are polls (including one about your favorite G4 fan song, which sent me down a nostalgia spiral). The whole site is actively maintained, with updates logged regularly on the homepage going back through early 2025.

I love when someone takes a personal passion and just builds a whole world around it on the web. No algorithms, no monetization, just "here's everything I know and care about, organized the way I want it, come look if you want." Go poke around The Pony Highway. Even if you're not a pony person, there's something infectious about the care that went into this place.
