OH MY GOSH I love this directory so much!! I've been clicking through links for like two hours now and I'm not even close to done!! Every site has so much PERSONALITY, you know?! Like someone actually sat down and hand-picked their background tiles and their little cursor trails and their blinkies!! Modern social media just gives everyone the same boring white box and calls it a profile. No thank you!! I want webrings! I want guestbooks! I want under construction gifs!! The old web let us be ART

oh man this directory is SO my jam!! i miss when the internet felt like walking through a weird neighborhood where everyone decorated their house differently. now everything is the same five apps and everyone posts the same stuff for The Algorithm. back then you'd click a random link and end up on someone's page about their pet lizard or their favorite pasta recipes and it was WONDERFUL. no likes, no followers, just people being weirdos on their own little corner of the web ^_^ keep this alive!!

Love this directory! My own site is just plain HTML and CSS, a few pages about my hobby electronics projects and a photo log of old computers I've fixed up. No frameworks, no build steps, just files I edit in vim and upload with rsync. It loads fast and I actually understand every line of it. Glad places like this still celebrate that kind of thing.

OH MY GOSH I am SO happy I found this place!!! I stumbled here from a link on someone's Sailor Moon shrine and I've been clicking around for like two hours now!! I got into the retro web because I was SO tired of everything looking the same on social media. Then I found neocities one night and it was like my brain lit up!! Tiled backgrounds!! Visitor counters!! Webrings!! I never wanted to leave!! This directory is amazing, thank you for putting it together!!!

I make all my art pages by hand in raw HTML and honestly it just FEELS different from posting on instagram or whatever. Like on the old web every page was someone's weird little world, not just another feed of content shaped exactly the same. I miss when the internet felt like exploring a flea market instead of walking through an airport. Anyway this directory rules, keep it going!! 💖

god yes, webrings and link pages are SO underrated. like thats literally how i found half the cool sites i still visit. algorithms dont do that for you. a human being looked at another humans site and said 'hey this is cool, come check it out.' thats the whole internet right there!! i still maintain a links page on my site and i update it regularly. we need more of this. bookmarked this directory immediately, love what youre doing here.

ok does ANYONE else remember webrings?? like you'd click "next" and "previous" and just end up on some random persons homepage about their cat or their star trek fanfiction and it was honestly the best way to find stuff. i spent hours just clicking through webrings in like 1998-99. google kind of killed that whole vibe. miss it so much. this directory reminds me of those days, thanks for keeping it going

Oh my gosh, a GUESTBOOK! I haven't signed one of these since like 2003! This totally made my day. I run a little site about vintage sewing patterns and I've been hand-coding it in HTML just for fun. Finding this directory reminded me why I fell in love with the internet in the first place. Everyone just making weird little pages about stuff they loved. man this site rules. i've been building plain html pages since like 1997 and i refuse to stop. every time i open a modern website and it loads 14mb of javascript just to show me some text i want to scream. social media turned everyone into content creators performing for an algorithm instead of just... making weird stuff because they wanted to. nobody needed a build pipeline to put their cat photos online. we had it right the first time and we just forgot. anyway bookmarking this whole directory

ok so i literally just got into this whole old web thing like 2 months ago and i cant go back. everything on tiktok and instagram feels so samey and algorithm-brained?? like ur just consuming whatever the app decides to feed you. but on old web pages people actually made stuff because they WANTED to. no clout chasing no metrics just some person going heres my page about frogs or whatever and thats beautiful honestly. this directory is so cool ty for making it im bookmarking everything lol

My kids think im crazy but I pulled up this site to show them what the internet USED to be like before everything was tiktok and instagram. I actually still have my old geocities page backed up somewhere, it was all about my herb garden and had a midi file that played automatically lol. My 12 year old was like "mom why is it so ugly" and honestly that hurt haha. I might try to put it back up somewhere just to prove a point. great directory btw!!
