just found this directory and ive been clicking through sites for like two hours now. i run a little page about pressed flowers and its so much more fun than posting on instagram where nobody sees anything unless you pay. on my site i can just put stuff up because i want to, no algorithm deciding if my hobby is worth showing to people. the old web felt like everyone had their own little room and you could just wander around visiting. i miss that so much. glad places like this still exist

I got into the retro web thing after spending a weekend trying to set up a Next.js blog and realizing I needed 400MB of node_modules just to display some text on a screen. Opened up a blank HTML file, typed a few tags, and had something online in minutes. It felt like coming home to something I never actually experienced the first time around. This directory is wonderful. Bookmarked and I plan to visit every single link.

hey just wanted to say i found the coolest geocities-style shrine to old calculator watches through this directory and i nearly lost my mind. someone out there cataloged like every single casio model from the 80s with scanned manual pages and everything. reminds me why i love the web honestly. anyway my own site is about vintage lunchboxes so i totally get the obsession haha. keep this directory going its a goldmine!!

Showing my kids this site and they cannot believe we used to surf the web like this! Does anyone else remember making those little 88x31 button banners to trade links with other sites? I spent HOURS in MS Paint making those. My 12 year old said it looked 'kinda cool actually' so maybe there's hope for this generation lol. Love this directory, bookmarked it!

I'm going to be real with you it is way too obvious the summaries are AI written. I don't hate the idea but it is absurd looking at my own site and seeing a summary that has very little to do with the site if you actually... look at it.

man this site makes me so happy. i used to spend hours just clicking through peoples homepages back in the day, everyone had their own weird little corner with their favorite colors and midis playing and pages about their cats or whatever obscure thing they were into. nobody was trying to build a brand, they were just making stuff because it was fun. the web felt like a million bedroom walls covered in posters. i miss that so much. glad places like this still exist

Oh wow, I haven't signed a guestbook in YEARS. This genuinely made my day. I've been hand-coding sites since like 2001 and there's something so satisfying about a simple form that just lets you leave a little note. ok so i literally just found this site like 2 days ago and ive been going through it nonstop. i found this whole section of old geocities style pet pages?? like people made entire websites dedicated to their hamster with custom cursor trails and midi music and everything. its so genuine it makes me kinda sad we lost this. im 16 and i never got to experience this stuff but now im trying to learn html so i can make my own lol. thanks for keeping this directory going seriously

Webrings and link pages are honestly the best way to find cool stuff online and I will die on this hill!! There's something so special about stumbling through someone's hand-picked list of favorite sites, like getting a mix tape from a friend. Algorithms could never. I found my dad's old Geocities page on the Wayback Machine last year and honestly it changed the whole direction of my thesis. There's something about hand-coded pages with visitor counters that just hits different compared to everything being a template now.

hey!! found this site through a link on someone's neocities page and i've been clicking around for like two hours lol. i'm studying digital culture in college and honestly stumbling onto my older cousin's geocities archive when i was 15 is what started it all for me. seeing all those blinking gifs and "under construction" signs felt so genuine compared to everything being the same template now. this directory is such a cool resource, bookmarked immediately ^_^ keep it up!!

I pulled up this site to show my two kids what the internet looked like when I was their age. My daughter said "why is it so plain?" and honestly that made me a little sad. I tried to explain that someone sat down and typed every single tag by hand, no drag-and-drop, no templates. Just a person and a text editor.
